Hi welcome to my web site, I'm an architect as well as an artist who incorporates a way of illustrating with watercolors that was popular with architects of the day trained in the acclaimed Ecole des Beaux Arts school in Paris towards the end of the 19th century and at least until the 1920's...
I use my background of many years of drafting experience (before the widespread and now nearly 100% use of CAD programs, printers and plotters..go into any college school of architecture and I dare you to find a drafting table) to execute a new piece by doing a careful pencil layout before adding watercolor paint to paper and do a time consuming layering process that gives the painting an oil like opacity offset by the transparency of the water media...to finish the last 10% of the piece I use some mixed media; everything from color pencils, pastels , plus a bit of both black and white India ink applied "old school" with a ruling pen to accent and 'highlight' areas as needed.
I specialize in commissions!..everything from house or cottage portraits...boat portraits, vacation scene/memories just contact me via this site 'contact artist' button or send me an email at cdavidaia@aol.com. I update the site regularly with new paintings so stop back often or join my email/newsletter list and you'll get my weekly updates email on current in progress paintings and updated show schedules... .
Now working! I have "buy now" buttons that will take you to Paypal, a trusted web standard (I use the service all the time now with no problems... you can use your credit card or I recommend setting up a Paypal account that draws directly from your Bank Account) a great option for the ease and security of paying online for originals and prints.... I am developing the available 'limited edition" prints section all w/ "Buy Now" capabilities..these are all high quality signed and numbered limited edition prints (usually a limited run of 105) printed on heavy weight Acid-free archival quality watercolor paper that matches the original in color and quality, note the price listed on the prints (as well as originals) includes a neutral color (white, biege or off white) double mat ready for you to drop in your own off the shelf frame for ease, lower cost and convenience. (prices vary per painting) For other options/ lower cost I am offering 'open edition' (signed and dated by the artist) prints offered in smaller sizes 5x7" (w/ an 8x10" mat for $25.ea. ) and 8x10" prints (w/an 11x14" mat for $35. ea.)
